Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants

The Mary Buckley Scholarship Fund was established in 1959 in memory of the second president, Mary Buckley of Toledo, who tragically died in a fire in her home 2 weeks before the end of her term as president. The first scholarship was awarded in 1972 making 2019 scholarships the 45th year of awards.

Since 1972, the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants has sponsored annual scholarships for Medical Assisting Students who are enrolled in AAMA-CAAHEP accredited medical assisting programs through its Mary Buckley Scholarship Fund.  We will be awarding at least four (4) $1000.00 scholarships at the President's Luncheon at the annual meeting in April 2019.  We will accept applications between December 2018 and the March 25, 2019.

A student may apply in their second semester of the Medical Assisting program.

Selection criteria are based on:

  • Desire to enter the allied health care profession
